Local, seasonal produce, shrimp, oysters, poultry, beef, pork, lamb, goat, pasta, mushrooms, eggs, cheese and artisan bread. Plants, ferns, camellias, citrus trees and beautiful, fresh cut flower bouquets. Fabulous prepared food vendors serving: BBQ, dumplings, she crab soup, crab cakes, paella, coffee, smoothies, baked goods, bagels and breakfast sandwiches. No pets allowed.

Nice farmers market with a great mix of quality vendors. I do find it unusual that produce vendors are not required to display prices.

I live in Alaska where we have a growing seasonal farmers market, and I’ve been to some amazing farmers markets—Vienna, Madison Wisconsin, Union Square in NYC, and some small town markets with unique features. Kit and Louis have made an art of curating the Port Royal Farmers Market. I could elaborate on every detail of their curatorial skill from setting to the vendor application process, to the exceptional quality every vendor brings in their offerings. You can even get wild Alaska salmon and other Alaska seafood sold by the Alaskan who I think lives in Alaska and South Carolina part of the year has a hand in the processing. If every community had a farmers market of the Port Royal Farmers Market everyone would have a compelling opportunity to eat more healthy original sourced foods as part of building a sustainable healthy community.

I love to attend Farmer’s Markets when I travel, and truly this is the best, most unique market I have ever visited. For 7 years I was a vendor and cannot speak enough about the camaraderie and Kit and Louis who manage the market. It is a Saturday event in Beaufort no matter the weather. We love our market and all those who visit it.

PORT ROYAL farmers Market feels like your good old pair of nice leather shoes you are walking comfortably with since many years.
Have you ever had the chance to visit one of the classic farmers markets in an old town in Italy, Southern France, Spain ?
One which gives you a feel of the over 2500 years of market tradition in an atmosphere of community where everybody is happy to meet each other with a warm weather and welcome feel. Located at a romantic little town park, where all vendors are working together without any animosities or envy. Where the selection of all offered products is TOP QUALITY, representing the Land and culinary diversity of the surroundings, in an unique and an outstanding way.
Port Royal and its history, the wonderful people, the authenticity, knowledge and competence of the vendors who all produce and sell incredible products are a rare mix of which long lasting legends are made of. All of this dish does not need a board of different cooks who often over salt the soup, but the feel for history, people, excellent food quality, just as the market master Kitt and Lewis Bruce have. This market is in tradition of the thousands of years old Western Market history. An institution and a must go to when visiting the south eastern region of South Carolina. Having visited many Farmers Markets in Europe and here in the US. Port Royal is the type of market which is recommended under the hand as a secret tip. It has a spirit of an old community and “ars vivendi” (Rare to find in the US) and therefore I can hardly imagine there is a similar market in the U.S. with this feel.
99 points of 100 for the ultimate Farmers Market,
…If our four legged family members would be allowed to join their Mom’s and Pap’s, and allow to live and enjoy the bond between dogs and their owners, helping to feel the joy and connection with nature and the love which comes with it, Port Royal could even compete with the most recommended Markets in Europe! Port Royal, so much more positive for People, Kids and animals comes out of this, that the single complaint of a grumpy old lady fades into non-importance … “Please allow “Man’s best Friend to be part of it again. Allow Dogs again!
Wouldn’t it make a nice X-Mas gift for soo many customers after this pandemic, which thought us how heeling and important our 4 legged companions are?

Adriano, there’s quite a bit of space in the area of the farmers market. How about suggesting a large fenced dog run park that anyone can visit as part of the farmers market day. It could start at sunrise when it’s cool and be available until sunset. I’ve been to amazing dog parks in NYC and other areas where great social times are had by dogs, owners and children. The Port Royal farmers market is comparably tight quarters and vendor food areas open on all sides. It would be mayhem having dogs there and could easily cause trip hazards —Beaufort is an aging community. In creating a large public market, the organizers made excellent decisions from the get-go that makes this market t he best I have ever been to for all the right reasons.

We are at the Port Royal Farmers’ Market most Sat. mornings. It is open 9-noon, so we shop for local produce, meats, pastas, honey, plants, shrubs, or flowers. We can consult with Master Gardners. We get lunch from one of a variety of vendors, esp. Hank’s She Crab Soup, and listen to live music most Saturdays. It is under the live oaks for shade, with ample parking. Something for everyone, with kiddie playground and skateboard park adjacent, and a bit of local history in relocated church on the grounds.
