Mark Heilshorn says
One of the most outstanding Farmer’s markets in the area in terms of produce but more importantly in terms of energy and enthusiasm. Passionate, informative, loving and gracious vendors and managers.
Bobbie Rich says
This market is not just “any ” market. I’m pretty sure that this is THE best market on the planet. I say that as a true foodie. For me, what that means is that, whenever possible, I create meals using local, fresh, and organic produce. The Westport market never lets me down. In addition, all of the farmers as well as the other vendors, are helpful and easy to talk with.
But there is something else that makes every weekly trip here a delight and that is that, quite simply, this an extraordinarily well run business. I feel very lucky to have access to the Westport Market

The WFM is not just a collection of vendors. It’s a curated and cultivated community of purveyors, all of whom are committed to the land and sustainability. I feel very lucky to live in a town where there is access to so much quality and commitment. This market is a a shining example of how it should be done across the country.

Having been to farmers markets all over the East, I know what a true gem the Westport Farmers’ Market is. Great fresh food, and a wonderful community. Now if we could only clone the WFM so I could get it near me, now that I have moved out of state . . .

I don’t know what we would do without the Westport Farmers’ Market. as a farmer (we are also a vendor at the market) and a chef, i rely on the market every week in providing for my business and our family. everything offered is scrupulously vetted so you can close your eyes, spin around, and anything in front of you when you open them is worth purchasing. from dog treats to fresh fruit to popsicles, to herbal tinctures, to prepared food to meat + cheese + produce, it’s all of the highest quality and greatest sustainability available. in addition, the WFM is all about giving back to the community and making farm fresh produce and artisanal goods available to all. this market should be at the top of the heap, nationwide and certainly in our region. I am honored to cast a vote — three cheers and boundless gratitude for all you do, Westport Farmers’ Market!
Juliet Nolta says
It is surreal how amazing the fresh goods produced week after week at this market are! I don’t know how (or why!) I will ever be able to return to a grocery store for meat, produce, fruit, dairy, and flowers ever again!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the people from these farms I visit at the market each week! Bravo for providing great fresh food and flowers during the most trying of times!
Wendy Schaefer says
Westport Farmers Market has been a life saver during the pandemic, offering amazing and fresh local items, while maintaining safe and secure guidelines.
Lisa OMelia says
WFM has done a tremendous job keeping the market open this summer. Connecticut had an early outbreak of Covid19, and Westport was the first hot spot. The directors followed all state restrictions and managed to keep fresh food available, helping customers and farmers.
I also appreciate their programs, such as Young Shoots, where students submit photos taken at the market. This is one way to encourage an appreciation for local food in our young people.
Nate Dougall says
Great market that stayed open during their off season to support the farmers and provide fresh food in a safe environment. They set up a pre-order market that became the model for other markets.
Tynne Love says

This producer only market in Westport CT is clearly the best or one of the best in the state. The market seeks to promote their farmers by raising funds to keep market fees exceptionally low – the rates farmers pay for their booth is low and has not changed in years. The Westport Farmer’s Market is now in its 11th year. The market has been actively supported by the elected officials – the board of selectmen and is held in the summer on town property – the Imperial Avenue commuter parking lot. In recent years, the Westport Farmers Market opened a winter location at Gilberties Herb Garden in a greenhouse on Sylvan Lane starting in November through March. The market director does on-farm site visits, chef of the day presentations using the food from the market, supports the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and the Gillespie Center and each prepared food vendor is required to use an ingredient from member farmers. This is a special gathering place for lunch and community.
