We’re kicking off year 17 of America’s Farmers Market Celebration™ (AFMC) by American Farmland Trust. Yep, that’s right, if the AFMC were a teenager, it would be asking to borrow the car keys right about now (to go to the farmers market, right?!). All jokes aside, let's pump the brakes for a moment and look back at the winners of last year's AFMC. Though, in our book, ALL farmers markets are winners.

Stewarded by American Farmland Trust, our annual AFMC is true to its name – it’s a celebration of America’s farmers markets that serve communities from coast to coast. Behind every market is a team of people who make the magic happen – farmers, ranchers, food producers, market staff, community organizations, and more. Markets provide shoppers with the chance to meet the farmer who woke up at 4 A.M. to harvest or the baker who was up late making fresh sourdough bread.

FIRST: Mount Washington Farmers Market, Mount Washington, Kentucky -- Awarded $5,000

We love and cherish our community and the Farmers Market is a beautiful reflection of what brings us together. FIFTH: Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, Troy, New York -- Awarded $250

The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is excited to have received recognition in America's Farmers Market Celebration. Now in our 25th season, the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is a producer-only market with more than 100 vendors that operates every Saturday, year round. In the summer, we create a bustling open air, car-free, urban street market that sprawls throughout six historic city blocks that you may recognize as the filming location for HBO's 'The Gilded Age.' In the winter, we move indoors and continue to provide the community with fresh locally produced food. We thank our local community for supporting us and we hope this recognition will inspire even more people to come for a visit.
