"They provide fresh, nutritious food for our community. Food from our farm vendors travels an average of 15 miles to the market and is picked at the peak of flavor and ripeness. Compare this to grocery store produce which travels an average of 1200 miles. Buying from our local farm vendors keeps food dollars in our local economy and helps support their employees who also live in our community. Farmers work long hours with uncertainties many of us take for granted like weather and pests. Investments in seed, fuel, fertilizer, etc are made before they make any income from selling their crops. Fresh, local fruits and vegetables just taste better!"
