The Historic Lewes Farmers Market (HLFM) is a nonprofit organization committed to nurturing a vibrant local food system in Delmarva that is sustainable and socially responsible. We bring together our community and farmers that grow our food. We build delivery networks that connect local growers to the community through our producer-only farmers markets and other food access programs. We focus on empowering emerging farmers and educating our community on the importance of preserving local farmland. Our goal is an equitable distribution system that increases healthy food access, reduces food waste, and benefits our entire community. The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 for each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. In addition to SNAP, the HLFM also accepts Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program benefits as well as Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) benefits. The HLFM operates a Saturday Summer Market at George H.P. Smith Park at 8am - 12pm from May 4 - Sept 28, 2024; a Wednesday Market at Crooked Hammock Brewery at 8 – 11:30am from June 5 - Sept 4, 2024; and a Saturday Fall Market at Lewes Elementary School at 9am – 12pm from Oct 5 - Nov 23, 2024.
