Held every Saturday, year-round, the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is one of the most popular attractions in New York’s Capital Region. Returning to the streets after COVID, the market transforms the heart of downtown Troy into an open-air street festival that could easily pass for a scene in Europe. On the busiest Saturdays, as many as 15,000 people visit the market to shop for fresh local produce, meats, seafood, prepared foods and handmade crafts. From May through October, families, college students and neighborhood regulars all mingle in Monument Square and on the surrounding streets, milling around between the tents, sidewalk tables and music stages. The Market moves indoors during the winter months.
The Troy Farmers Market was a huge incentive when deciding to move to Troy! We get most of our groceries from the market and enjoy going every week!
I have been enjoying this amazing market for years. The products are wonderful, but the vendors are even more special. They have become good friends.
Our family shops Here #intheneighborhood #TroyNY https://www.troymarket.org/

Go every Saturday for the past 15 years, the best, very friendly vendors .
The best on the country!!!
This market really shines! Visitors are always astounded by the variety and scale of our Troy NY waterfront farmers market. I am local and shop there each week. I truly believe it’s the best in the country as I travel extensively and always support the local economy of communities I visit. Troy Market is a gem.
Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is a great service to our community. It offers fantastic food options and locally sourced products.
Amazing produce, flowers, baked goods. It’s a real community center on Saturdays. See your neighbors, meet new friends. Enjoy the smells and sounds of a vibrant city!
Troy Farmers Market is back out on the streets of downtown Troy! It’s a great place to get a bite to eat, something to drink, and to people watch/dog watch.
Great produce and other venders!!! Fabulous flowers! Always a fun thing to do with friends on a Saturday!!!
I have gone for over 25 years and 3 different locations. Best farmers market, like a street fair with huge variety of fresh products and great restaurant vendors!
From cheese, produce, liquor, you can find it all here! It’s a treasure.
Seth, Jamie, Marge, Laughing Earth, DeFazio’s, Underground Alchemy, apples, microgreens, live music, everything under the sun that is soul-filling, fresh and delicious…all combined makes for one of the best markets I’ve ever been to. And it happens to be in the city I was born in. What a treasure.
We love this market and not just for the wide variety of quality local products but for the people! We’ve gotten to know the vendors at the market and also network with them and participate in other events in the greater Troy area (Washington County Cheese Tour, plant sales and farm tours to name a few). Nothing better than knowing where your food comes from and who puts the hard work into growing/making it!
We have enjoyed the market for 15 plus years, enjoy knowing the vendors, loving our purchases, great products, will continue to come
Wonderful local people, great atmosphere, and amazing products!
Best farmers market
I use the drive through market every Sunday; for myself its been great because I’m immunocompromised! Always friendly people and great products! Even when the rest of the world has a hard time finding produce or meat, the farmers market has come to the rescue:)
This Market is a special gem in Upstate New York. You can find everything from produce, meats, and dairy/cheese, to baked goods, wine & spirits, prepared foods, and crafts (plus, this is a producer-only market, so you have the extra gratification of knowing everything you buy here is made locally)! In a typical environment, the market usually has musicians from all over New York, and they partner with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and schools to truly benefit the entire community. This market has grown like crazy over the past 20 years, but the tight-knit family feel is ever present!

Many people deserve credit for the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, but the person who was the main reason why we all lured it to Troy is the late Joan Warrender. Almost nobody knows that. Back in 1999, she was my marketing coordinator at Troy’s RiverSpark Visitor Center. Mayor Mark Pattison wanted us to help get more foot traffic downtown. In response to that, and inspired by Ray Oldenburg’s “The Great Good Place,” Joan suggested that we build up the tiny farmers market that already happened weekly on Broadway in Troy. We then discovered that there was already a regional “task force” trying to create a farmers market somewhere in New York’s Capital Region. Joan and I got on that task force and lobbied everyone mercilessly to locate it in downtown Troy. Many others helped us do the lobbying, and all the people on the task force, including its original instigator, Amy Braig-Lindstrom, did heroic work getting the thing off the ground. By the end of 1999, we’d succeeded in selling Troy as the place for it to be. The market began the following May. But when you get right down to it, Joan Warrender was the original person with the idea of having it in Troy. She deserves more credit than she’s received for that. The market is arguably the most important thing I’ve ever helped happen during my entire professional career. I love it. It embodies all the elements that make Troy such a genuine and sustaining community. RIP Joan Warrender.
I live in NYC where there are many wonderful Farmers’ Markets. But the Farmers’ Market in Troy is my favorite. It brings together an entire city and draws folks from many of the surrounding areas, and even from downstate New York. Farmers’ Market days in Troy are festive and welcoming – an event that showcases not only the extraordinary variety of produce of local farmers and the creations of artists who set up their shops in the center of town, but also features the permanent Troy merchants and establishments – many of them unique – that surround the weekend vendors. Add music and the Hudson River views as background, and you have the makings of a perfect summer day.
This market serves people from the Capital Region and beyond. All are welcome. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is a true urban spectacle. I have been attending for 20 seasons. There is no time like fall in upstate New York.
The best Farmer’s Market Ever. There’s something for everyone and mostly organic! Produce, food, entertainment, merchandise all are there for your purchase and pleasure. A joy to attend.
Troy Farmer’s Market is the best in the Capital Distirct. They have a large variety of vendors selling farm fresh and local vegetables, fruit, meat, flowers, herbs and other locally made products like granola, wine, soap and much more. There are local small restaurants with food stands, music, crafts and so much more. This is a great place to support and learn about local farms and businesses.
Best farmers market in the area … bar none
Have loved this market for years and each year it just gets better and better!
We have had the good fortune to live in two cities with great farmers markets – Troy, NY and Madison, WI. While the one around the Capital Square in Madison is bigger and clearly the best in the Midwest, the Troy Riverfront Farmers Market is still our favorite. The atmosphere and food are really something special.
Love my Market! Definitely a weekly occurance. So many good things. I get my milk, eggs, cheese, meat and ‘most everything there.
Not only does this market have an incredible festival atmosphere, attracting visitors from throughout the region, it has a tremendous array of farmers growing everything one could desire: peaches, chard, fresh bread, fish, yogurt, cheese, a variety of apples one can only find in upstate New York, and baskets of cherry tomatoes so sweet that I can never get all of the way home before eating them all.
Thank you to all of the vendors who have made Downtown Troy their home on Saturdays for the past 20 years! It has brought a vitality with it that perfectly complements the historic architecture of walkable Downtown Troy.
