This is one of the oldest and biggest farmers market’s west of the Mississippi. It began in 1779. It is the heart of the historic Soulard neighborhood, which is steeped in traditions of Blues music and the many cultures that run along, and have been partially defined by, the Mississippi River from St. Louis to Memphis to the Mississippi Delta to New Orleans. This is by far the most beloved and well-known farmers market in the St. Louis metro area. Also a good place to get things like gumbo, alligator meat, and have a bloody mary/margarita while shopping.
