Palatine is a producer/vendor Market. Products are only available in the Market, not at grocery stores. Produce is picked within 24 hours of the Market. Only the best in a friendly atmosphere! We encourage the use of biodegradable bags when needed, and we sell insulated market bags.

This listing states the farmers market is from “2am to 1pm”. It should be 7am, not 2am.

Good morning, I think our Palatine Farmers market has great products, and I love being able to purchase local products, especially local foods. BUT, it would be so much better if they didn’t use plastic. Many of the vendors package their goods in single-use plastic, which is so harmful to our environment. Traditional plastics are toxic when they are manufactured, and toxic when they are discarded in our landfills and in on landscapes.
Please consider becoming a single-use plastic free Farmers Market! There are many compostable alternatives available these days. Also, customers could bring their own bags and bins.
At the very least, require a fee for all single-use plastic packaging, I would recommend 50 cents per bag or wrapping. . Let customers bring their own bags and bins in order to avoid the fee. The fees collected could be used to offset the cost of compostable alternative packaging.

Many grocery stores accept plastic bags for recycling. Also, many people do bring their own bags. Plus, if you buy more than one product, they usually need to be separated (by bags ) so items don’t get squished, like berries and tomatoes or bread products. Just my opinion.

thank you for your comment.
although stores accept plastic bags for recycling, few are recycled. Why not just avoid them in the first place? really, they are so harmful. thank you.
