About Us:
Matthews Community Farmers’ Market (MCFM) is the largest, most diverse producer-only farmers’ market in the greater Charlotte area. All market products, except fish, are grown, raised or made within 50 miles of Matthews. Fish is caught off the NC coast and brought to market by the fisherman. Buying directly from the local producer allows you to know the source of your food and build a relationship with the person or farm family who grows it. You’ll find freshly harvested produce, naturally-raised meats, local honey, plants, artisan foods and hand-crafted items. MCFM proudly offers Double Bucks Match to our SNAP/EBT customers. We are a lively community gathering place in Downtown Matthews to shop, nibble, relax and meet your neighbors. Come enjoy all we have to offer on Saturday mornings, including live music, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, fun contests, giveaways and more!
A great market that supports the farmers and community of Matthews. The food and the people are wonderful!
This is a wonderful market the people make it even better. It is a good and strong part of our community. There are tastings and
I love this market. It is fun to purchase local quality items.
Saturday morning at the Matthews Farmers Market is my routine. Great food, folks, and fellowship! Strong sense of community. Lots of information about cultivation practices. I buy almost everything we eat at MCFM.

The Matthews Farmer’s Market is the best. I love going, it is open all year. The vendors are so nice. I’ve been to other markets and you are not sure if the vendor grows their own produce. The vendors at the Farmers Market are verified and are local to the market. The Matthews Farmers Market is the place where everyone gathers Saturday morning. We are so fortunate to have this market.
Matthews Community Farmers’ Market is great! MCFM not only supports sustainable farming but also creates a sense of community. When you shop local you are supporting local farms and artisans, and your dollars stay in your local economy. I’m so grateful to have access to this farmers’ market. Thank you to all of the vendors and volunteers who make the market possible every Saturday, rain or shine!
The MCFM is a great local farm supported market. They do great community outreach and engage local musicians and chefs to come and perform and provide demos throughout the season. They were also very diligent during the worst of the pandemic providing a safe place for locals to get fresh produce.
We moved to Rock Hill, SC and miss going to the Matthews Farmers Market. I like the fact there is a variety of products – most of them food and then the vendors are all small farms. I still make the trip about every 2 months. Have not found a good farmers market here.
Superb market; I’ve been going there over 10 years and now buy almost all my veg and meat there. Nice small-town feel in downtown Matthews but easily drivable from Charlotte. It is a perfectly sized market: big enough to be worth a visit and where you can find almost anything you want, but not so big that you can get lost in it like some of the state-sponsored markets in NC. This market is a privately run non-profit and governed by its farmers, so fully focused on the mission and has been going strong for 30 years. It is mostly food, with a great mix of produce, meat, cheeses, one fish vendor, etc. vs. prepared foods. Very few craft vendors, which is a plus in my book. You can ask any farmer about how they produce their product (pesticides vs. not, grass vs. grain, etc.) rather than have to wonder “How does USDA define ‘organic’ or ‘free range’ etc.?” Most are very open about their practices. The market stays open all year but shifts to shorter hours in the winter (fair warning: it’s 100% outdoor). With a few hydroponic and greenhouse vendors, you can get fresh local salad parts in December! Many vendors (and the market org itself) were slow to adopt credit cards a few years ago but are now fully onboard (accelerated by the pandemic) so 95% of them take plastic; there’s no longer much need for a wad of singles. The market now even offers SNAP integration so that everyone in the community can have access to the great food here.
