They’ve transitioned nicely from where the Heartland Cafe was for over 40 years to a new spot. They’ve redesigned their new space quickly to accommodate for the COVID-19 guidelines. They are only one of the few in the Chicago/Evanston area the allow the LINK card/SNAP benefits program to be used on-line to purchase food, etc…and still double the points. Miss the live music, free samples, good hot/cold food vendors, but mostly looking at the whole faces of people there; the farmers, the patrons, the vendors and smiling ‘cuz the vibe is so good! I smile at you all~ just the same… 🙂
Has everything needed. Nice people that accommodate wheelchairs and dogs. Takes LINK card and gives double (wooden coins) matching dollars, so one (especially in need) can spend $25.00, but get $50.00 in food!
I admire Glenwood Sunday Market initiative of double-matching the number of dollars they receive from a Link shopper, this increases the accessibility of fresh food for low-income families especially. Also, it cultivates a healthy lifestyle in the community!
Whether you're a market manager looking for best practices in the age of COVID-19 or a consumer who wants to embrace their local food system, we can help.
