Located downtown in a converted railroad freight station the Danville Virginia Farmers’ Market is steeped in history and has a great atmosphere. During the open season this market offers a large selection of fresh local produce, meats, fresh eggs, honey, baked goods, homemade personal care items, arts and crafts, plants, and more. The Master Gardeners are on hand to answer your questions. The market features a Donation Station where customers and vendors alike can make a monetary donation and fresh food to local charities. The Farmers’ Market also features an EBT match program. There is always lots to see and do, so add a visit to your weekend plans!

The Danville Farmer’s Market is the best local source for fresh vegetables, fruits, meats & eggs, honey, flowers, baked goods and crafts. With hours of operation both on Saturday and Wednesday, I am able to find freshest nutritious foods for my family. Homemade jams, jellies, and other condiments are available each week as are a wide assortment of other handmade craft items. The Danville Farmer’s Market has a huge variety of goods and does a great job of promoting those ingredients and providing recipes at the market and by weekly newsletter. I feel that the Danville Farmer’s Market provides an opportunity for area residents to interact in an awe inspiring historical environment in a bonding, non-confrontational manner, bringing the community closer together. This is a wonderful market in so many ways. The market itself and the historic building that houses it, harken back to a kinder time and give shopper’s the joy of buying all the goods that are for sale, and the satisfaction of helping the local economy in doing so. A local food bank accepts donations of food each week, to help those in need of assistance, while helping the local growers, too. This is a perfect system at work!
