Founded in 1979, the Carrboro Farmers’ Market aims to create and sustain a vibrant, accessible, and innovative market that supports our local farmers and artisans, while extending the benefits of local food to the greater community. On Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Carrboro Town Commons in downtown Carrboro, vendors sell a wide selection of the highest quality locally-grown produce, pasture-raised meats, eggs, cheeses, honey, breads, pastries, artisan crafts, and much more. The CFM is a producers-only Market with over 70 vendors who produce their goods within 50 miles of Carrboro, North Carolina. The CFM strives to connect with our community with monthly signature events like June in Bloom and Tomato Day, recipe and tasting demonstrations, Market Bunch kids activities, and more. The CFM is committed to making fresh, local food accessible to all. The market accepts food and nutrition assistance programs like SNAP/EBT and North Carolina Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits and offers Double Bucks an unlimited dollar-for-dollar match of these benefits. The CFM is open Saturdays year-round and operates from 7am-12pm April – October and 9am-12pm November – March. The Wednesday Market runs from 3-6pm April – mid-November.

Happy to remember and revisit Carrboro Farmers Market often, luckily my first real experience with Farmers’ Markets in NC; I was previously spoiled by the Amish Markets in SE Pennsylvania. Now excited to watch the progress of NC Farmers Market Network, a state-wide nonprofit to help all markets achieve similar successes. Keep those farmers in business!
I have been going to Carrboro’s Farmer’s Market for close to 40 years. That the market has fresh produce year round is a testament to the innovative farmers and perhaps global warming. It is easy to “eat with the seasons” there. Buying food there reduces your carbon foot-print while ensuring you know where your food comes from. It is a great place to see you neighbors. I also enjoy seeing the first generation farmers especially those who are recent immigrants to this country. Come and enjoy the fun.
I’ve been going to the Carrboro Farmers Market for over 15years and love it! It’s the highlight of my week to go, it’s more like a visit with family than a farmers market! Everyone is very friendly and helpful, really good people. There are always new veggies to try and wonderful fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pastries, foods and flowers, so it’s never the same boring stuff. They even have some beautifully made ceramics, yarns and other non food items. Everything is affordable and it feels good knowing my money is helping local farmers and vendors. I cherish my local farmers and Carrboro Farmers Market!
We’re completely spoiled by this wonderful market, where we can get fresh local meats, flour (!) and cheeses, along with seasonal vegetables. We hardly need the grocery store!
