Mick Klug Farms
St. Joseph, MI
"Mick Klug grew up on a 40-acre farm his parents established in the 1930s. He took ownership in 1974, and has expanded the land to over 120 acres. Mick and his daughter, Abby Schilling, work together to manage the farm, several farmers market stands, and sales to many restaurants in Chicago. Mick's wife, Cindy, daughter, Amy, and granddaughter, Lola, are also a big help! The Klug family grows many varieties of fruits and vegetables, employing approximately 25 employees seasonally. The Klug's are committed to sustainable agriculture and promoting locally grown produce. Mick has been providing fresh produce to the Green City Market for over a decade and to City of Chicago Farmers Markets for over 30 years. Look for purple and green asparagus, rhubarb and strawberries in the spring and raspberries and blueberries in the summer. Peaches, his biggest seller, and shelled peas also are specialties. In the fall, you can find over 10 varieties of seedless grapes at Mick's stand, along with Concords and Niagaras too!"
