For more than 150 years, the City Market has served as a gathering place for Kansas City, providing a link for farmers to sell direct to consumers. Our farmers markets offer fresh produce, plants, meats, dairy, baked goods, prepared foods and much more.

I’ve been coming and enjoying The City Market for decades. It was the inspiration for my children’s books CITY MARKET! and SAFE AT CITY MARKET. I wanted to honor everyone who makes the market come alive every day and celebrate the cultural diversity that is found there. It’s vibrant international atmosphere and goodwill to all makes it simply the premier family destination all year round. It really is my favorite place in town!

I’ve been attending the KC River Market since I was a kid with my grandfather. I’m 54 now and taking my kids and will be taking my grandkids when they arrive. It’s that kind of place. We love walking around seeing the diversity of not only the people, but the foods, drinks, spices, clothes, personal products, jewelry, even plants and everything else that makes Kansas City unique. We are central to our States in so many ways, joined by highways, rivers and more importantly, the people of our nation. It truly can all be seen here, at our City Market and in the surrounding businesses. Stop by and check it out. You’ll be back for more.

City market farmers market in Kansas City Missouri is one of my personal favorite places. The atmosphere is intimate, filled with music from buskers, Blue Springs High School Jazz band and it’s music director Tim Allshouse plays there at least once a year. (Number 1 music program in the State of Missouri)
Summer brings an endless variety of fantastic fruits and vegetables from local growers, flowers, wine, beer, loaves of bread to enjoy at your dinner table.
You can purchase cutting and charcuterie boards, soap, candles, jams and jellies. There are pretzels, cakes and cookies, Brandy’s and liqueurs, an array of flavored pork rinds, spices, an Italian grocer, restaurants, clothing and jewelry. If any of these fabulous things are a gift to someone you love, you can even purchase a handmade greeting for the occasion.
There’s a museum, Asian markets and residential areas around it. It’s a community of folks walking their dogs, talking to neighbors. The free streetcar if you’d rather go to the movies, post office or the Amtrak station. There’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be. Kansas City Missouri city market is just fantastic!

I love the City Market! It has a great atmosphere, food and a diversity of people. It is a nice place to indulge in conversation while local artists play live music or magician’s grasp the attention of consumers with magic tricks; or the many random talents that entertain and add to the ambiance of the City Market. With an array of vendors we support, the City Market can, will and is enjoyed individually or with friends and or family.
