I am writing to report a case of harassment at the MassDOT Farmers market at the Eastbound Charlton Service Plaza. On the morning of Sunday, May 28 my wife and I parked near the one farmers stand set up and took our dog, on a leash, to a grassy area nearby for exercise and relief. The stand was Prarie Orchard Farm, Braintree, MA. The proprietor immediately accosted us and told us to go to a nearby fenced-in area for dogs. I complied but noted that this small area was covered in dog poop and unsafe to walk in. I returned to the area behind, but not close to, the farm stand, where other dog owners were also present. This burly man in military fatigues accosted me again and aggressively got in my face in a threatening manner and told me to leave the area. I showed this man the plastic poop bag I had to clean up after my dog and assured him we would leave no mess. He then got out his camera phone and took pictures of us, our car and license plate and threatened to call the police and report us for a fine. He threatened other dog owners as well.
Without farms, our markets and tables would be empty. Get a free "No Farms No Food" bumper sticker to show off your support of America's farmers and ranchers.
