Established in 1976, the Lawrence Farmers’ Market is the oldest farmers’ market in Kansas. As a producer-only market, all of the products available were grown, raised, made, and crafted by the individual in the booth. All of the vendors at the market are from within 50 miles of Lawrence, reducing the carbon footprint of food production and supporting the local economy. Lawrence Farmers’ Market is an incubator space for new food and agricultural businesses and has a mission to provide everyone in the area with locally grown foods and farm products by improving access to local, healthy, affordable food. The market was a pilot participant in the Double Up Food Bucks program and continues to work with area partners to bring these needed extra dollars to those it needs. The Saturday Morning Market is a great space for the community to gather with live music, dogs, hot food vendors, and community organizations offering information. The Tuesday Evening Market is in beautiful shady South Park, providing a smaller and more intimate shopping experience. Shop Local! Shop Outside!
